MCMC Setting Up 1Malaysia Internet Centre In Felda Cherul, Kemaman
03 Nov 2014, bernama
KEMAMAN, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will create a 1Malaysia Internet Centre at the Felda land scheme in Cherul, here to provide a platform for development for the settlers besides giving their children an opportunity to use the internet.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said, the 1Malaysia Internet Centre, which is now under construction and expected to be ready at the end of the year, involved an allocation of about RM1.5 million.
"The facility is perceived to be important for the settlers there in promoting or selling whatever products produced in their area or to seek information via the online system.
"It is also to balance the facilities available to the urban students and the rural students in obtaining whatever information they need to improve their knowledge," he told reporters after opening the Science on Wheels programme at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (Felda) Cherul, here.
Ahmad Shabery said currently, the MCMC had built about 500 1Malaysia Internet Centres throughout the country.
Meanwhile, about 118 such centres had been built in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.
