SEA Makerthon Encourages Creative Maker Minds To Develop Apps - MCMC

CYBERJAYA, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- South East Asia (SEA) Makerthon 2016 has gathered an estimated 100 participants to work on ideas to create and innovate prototype solutions using recycled or reused electronic material incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) for applications development.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said the two-day event held here starting today, is also a platform for makers, designers, entrepreneurs, tinkerers and individuals who aspire to become Change Makers.

"This is another initiative spearheaded by MCMC in making the IoT part of a way of life for Malaysians," it said in a statement, here Saturday.

Themed "Circular economy: Designing a world with zero waste" the inaugural event is organised by MCMC in collaboration with myMaker Association and South East Asia Makerspace Network (SEAMNET).

MCMC said participants can choose to compete in one of the three categories namely 2nd Life, Waste into Energy and Track and Trace those Waste.

Participants would be given a chance to pitch their ideas, build prototypes and solutions in 36 hours.

The winning team will represent MCMC myMaker for the grand finale of SEA Makerthon 2016 at InnovASEAN to be held in Singapore on Oct 15 and 16.
