YBhg. Datuk Muhammad Azmi bin Mohd Zain has been reappointed as Commission Member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission effective from 20 February 2026 for a period of two (2) years.

Born in Kelantan on 3 August 1971, YBhg. Datuk Muhammad Azmi bin Mohd Zain graduated from University Malaya (UM) in 1995 with a Bachelor of Economics with Honours. He then pursued his tertiary study and obtained Master of Social Science (Development Science) in 2012 from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).
 
YBhg. Datuk Muhammad Azmi had spent 28 years serving in civil service where he first embarked his professional career as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1996 as an Assistant Director in Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department. Throughout his years in civil service, he has served in various Government Agencies including Public Service Department (JPA), Ministry of Federal Territories, the President of Perbadanan Putrajaya and the Director General of Lands and Mines. He is currently the Director General of Federal Territories Department.
 
Due to his immense contributions in service, YBhg. Datuk Muhammad Azmi bin Mohd Zain was awarded with Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang in 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2013 respectively. YBhg. Datuk Muhammad Azmi had been conferred with Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW) in 2009, Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) in 2018 and received the title of Mejar Kehormat Askar Wataniah in 2020.
