Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah (“Datuk Abdul Halim”) has been appointed as a Commission Member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) effective from 2 January 2026 for a period of two (2) years.

Datuk Abdul Halim currently serves as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications, bringing with him nearly three decades of distinguished service in the Malaysian Public Service. His leadership journey has been defined by strategic management roles across multiple central agencies, reflecting deep expertise in governance, national administration, and crisis management.
 
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2004) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1995). This unique blend of legal and management training has shaped his ability to lead large organisations, spearhead policy development, and manage complex governmental operations.
 
Throughout his career, Datuk Abdul Halim has held a series of senior positions, including Director General of National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Deputy Secretary General (Finance & Development), Deputy Secretary General (Cabinet), and Deputy Director General of Implementation Coordination Unit of Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM). His vast experience also spans state-level planning, organisational management, service transformation, and disaster management coordination. These roles have strengthened his reputation as a capable administrator committed to efficient delivery, public sector modernisation, and national resilience.
