The target of 2030 is based on Malaysia’s IPv6 adoption trajectory, taking into account global adoption trends, industry readiness, and the need for a smooth transition. Currently, IPv6 adoption in Malaysia is approximately at 70% and is forecasted to reach 100% by 2029. Shifting the proposed timeframe from 2028 to 2030 will provide an additional period for all sectors to be fully prepared and to conduct comprehensive testing before proceeding with the full adoption and complete migration to IPv6. Additionally, recognising that Internet dependency extends beyond national borders and operates on a global scale, transition strategy must also consider this broader context, where the global IPv6 adoption trend is expected to reach 60%.
