EMPOWERMENT OF THE ELDERLY: NEGERI SEMBILAN INTERNET SECURITY AND AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR 2024

Cyber security awareness among the community is still relatively low and many people have fallen victims to cybercrimes. Unfortunately, senior citizens are among those who are affected and easily become victims of scammers.

Due to this, the MCMC Negeri Sembilan has taken a proactive approach in addressing this by holding a strategic collaboration with the Women, Family and Community Exco office, Negeri Sembilan Social Welfare Department (JKM), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Bernama and the Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PAWE) through the Empowering the Elderly: Safety and Awareness Programme on 14 November 2024 (Thursday) at PAWE Kuala Pilah.   Negeri Sembilan.

Various briefings and activities were carried out through the sharing of initiatives and functions of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), Cyber Security Briefing: Scam Crimes, Complaint Procedure, Coverage Quality Management and Check Your Label initiatives. The Kahoot quiz booth and interactive games were also carried out by the Malaysia ICT Volunteers to further raise the attendees’ awareness and understanding on the safe use of communication services and the Internet.

120 participants took part in this programme and it has generally received a very encouraging response.
