People-Friendly Budget Presented By PM - Jailani

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The 2015 budget announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday clearly reflected a people-friendly budget, said Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Jailani Johari.

Jailani said the budget announcement could, to a certain extent, fulfill the aspirations of the people for national prosperity.

"We observe that it covers various aspects such as education, employment, uplifting the people's economy and so on.

"The most interesting aspect of the budget is the announcement that the youths can own homes, so we see that the budget had taken into account the problems of the people," the deputy minister said.

Jailani disclosed this to reporters after presenting the instrument of appointment to 20 members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for the Manir state constituency, in Kuala Terengganu, Saturday.

Jailani, who is also Terengganu UMNO Liaison deputy chairman, said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), with an allocation of RM100 as announced, could continue with the programmes on the digital industry next year.

With the allocation, more industry players could be involved in expanding the digital industry, he said.

In terms of implementing infrastructure, the MCMC would continue with the broadband programs by giving focus to areas with impact such as in the urban centres and industrial areas.

Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, Makkal Sakti president Datuk R.S. Thanenthiran said allegations that the government was alienating the Indian community in the country was unfounded when the government announced various incentives for the development of the Indian community in the 2015 Budget.

Thanenthiran, who is also the founder of Makkal Sakti, said the budget, tabled by Najib, clearly showed the concern of the government for Malaysians especially the Indian community.

"The Indian community will enjoy the increase in the rate of BR1M (1Malaysia People's Aid) to RM950 for households with an income of RM3,000 and below.

Many among the Indian community are in this category and it will help to empower their economy," he said when contacted by BERNAMA.

"Besides announcing the additional allocation to the people, the Prime Minister had also provided several special allocations to the Indian community in the field of education and entrepreneurship," he said.

In the budget proposal, Najib had allocated RM50 million to the National Type (SJK) Tamil schools for the development and maintenance of educational facilities in the aspects of security and environment.

Thanenthiran said the new allocation given to Indian women entrepreneurs would bring significant changes and give an opportunity to the women to participate in small businesses while the RM50 million allocation would benefit 534 SJK Tamil nationwide.
